- Responsible for the layout of multi-paged boat manuals. I work with the writer and salesman to come up with several generic manuals that I created in Adobe FrameMaker. I created text insets/reusable content that can be inserted into all of the different boat models as needed. The boat manufacturers can then have me add any unique content to create their own specific manual. I am responsible for completing all the unique manuals to the manufacturer’s specifications. I am responsible for helping our Illustrator complete the artwork for these manuals using Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator. We have around 50 boat manufactures that we create manuals for. These are ongoing and some are updated every year. I have helped complete many boat manuals keeping existing clients happy and bringing in new boat business due to recommendations.
- Solely responsible for creating and editing XML files in Arbortext Editor and Content Management System based on provided stylesheet. The stylesheet was created by a programmer but I work in the XML code using Arbortext to create new manuals or edit existing manuals based on our client’s needs. These manuals are for one specific client and I am the only one in my department who does this. I am responsible for creating all artwork for these manuals (hundreds of images per manual). I create SVG files using Adobe Illustrator from a PDF provided by the client. I clean up the artwork, re-size it and add call outs to each piece of art that is needed. I then add it to the Content Management System (Windchill) and import it into Arbortext. Once I have completed the manual, which can range anywhere from 200-800 pages, I then publish a PDF for proofing. I also create a cover for each manual using Illustrator. Once the manual is complete I create a print and web PDF for the customer. We have around 90 manuals that are currently in our system. These manuals are updated each year on an as needed basis. I have helped to make us very valuable and more successful than our competitors.
- Responsible for creating or editing anything that is needed by any of our clients using Adobe Creative Suite, Adobe Framemaker, QuarkXPress, Arbortext Editor or Microsoft Office Suite. My manager assigns jobs to me as needed. I am constantly praised for my efficiency, accuracy and my ability to do any job that is assigned to me without assistance. I am given numerous projects daily, some are small and can be completed quickly and others can continue for months.
Journal Communications, Milwaukee Journal Sentinel
Milwaukee, WI
Graphic Designer
I started working for Community Newspapers, Journal Communications in New Berlin, WI. However Journal Communications merged us with the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel. We were relocated to Milwaukee, WI and my job duties were modified.
- Successful in designing newspaper ads and updating existing newspaper ads using QuarkXPress, Photoshop & Illustrator for multiple newspapers/magazines in the communities surrounding the Milwaukee area. Assisted with creating the template for the newspapers. The templates tell the paginators (people who place the ads in the paper) where the ads should go and also let the editors know what space is available for content. I assisted with the paginating of the papers using the templates. Flowed the ads into the paper, checked to make sure they were correct, created PDF’s of all the pages of the papers and sent the PDF’s to the printer. By doing this, I helped get the newspapers published daily and in a timely fashion.

I started working for the ELCA Board of Pensions while I was still in school completing my Graphic Design degree.

- Successful in gathering information, keeping members informed, and promoting Pension Plans to members by designing and editing forms, brochures, booklets, posters, signs, postcards and other miscellaneous materials using QuarkXPress, PageMaker, Adobe Creative Suite and Microsoft Office Suite. I worked directly with print vendors and would prepare electronic files and mock-ups of materials with print specifications. I approved proofs from print vendors and communicated any changes that needed to be made.
